Following the success of these events over the past two years, we have planned an exciting programme that will run throughout the 07 - 08 academic year. We are also delighted that LCM Select will now be partnering us for these events. Each of our Project Managers' forum events take place on a Wednesday afternoon from 2pm - 4pm, at Yorkshire Dance in Leeds. There is a chance for some networking followed by input from leading project managers and strategy makers on various aspects of music education work. On Wednesday 14th May, Samantha Sumerfield from Music4U - the Humber Youth Music Action Zone talks about the work that Music4U has been doing around the government's RESPECT agenda, putting the agenda into context, and looking at the challenges and achievements of working with hard to reach young people through music projects.

More info: These workshops present the public art evaluation toolkit, developed in conjunction with OPENspace Research Centre at Edinburgh College of Art and Heriot-Watt University. Already in use on a number of major public art projects (including the Big Art Project), the toolkit aims to facilitate the evaluation process for those delivering public art commissions. ixia has also created a database to collate the information generated by users of the toolkit. Over time this will aid the review of the impact of public art commissions.
This one day course, run in partnership with Doncaster Music Service, will present the latest neuro-scientific research on the learning brain and will include specific reference to developing musical ability. Trevor Hawes is one of the UK's leading experts on Teaching, Learning and Thinking. His days are typically described as fun, inspirational and highly practical. Working With Volunteers: A Look at Good Practice

This event will introduce some of the basic recognised good
practice in attracting and recruiting volunteers, and will include advice
on advertising, recruitment and selection, as well as day-to-day
supervision. Based on training developed for RSPB, whose workforce
includes 12,000 volunteers, the event will be delivered by experienced
RSPB volunteer managers. Although the examples used will be mainly from
the environmental sector, the volunteer management model and principles
covered can be used in any sector or situation. The day will be of
interest to anyone involved in volunteer recruitment and management who
wants to review their practice, and will be particularly useful for those
who are new to the role.
