Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour in Green Spaces
Organiser: ETN
Date: 02 August 2007
Location: Sheffield
Cost: ?
More info: It’s
easy to get disheartened with anti-social activities on greenspaces,
whether it’s fly tipping, litter, vandalism, ‘mini moto’ bikes,
dog-fouling or drug use. Fortunately there’s an increasing array of
solutions, including changes in site design and management, legal
action, community engagement and government initiatives. This event
will provide an introduction to these, with examples from around the UK
and the opportunity for you to share experiences. It is designed for
anyone grappling with these issues, for example nature reserve wardens,
rangers, community partnership workers and allotment associations.
Getting Local People Active and Involved
Organiser: ETN
Date: 08 August 2007
Location: London
Cost: ?
More info: How
can we genuinely involve local people in our work? How can we make
sure people have a good time and want to do more? How can we make
sure their involvement works for us too? This interactive and very
popular event will provide you with methods for increasing the
involvement of local people in environmental projects. Using lessons
from our own work, the day begins by looking at what encourages people
to get involved and goes on to design involvement opportunities for
your own projects and activities. The event will be of interest to
staff working in environmental and countryside situations who work with
communities as part of their job, including community forest staff,
rangers, rights of way and access staff, project managers, field and
project officers, woodland officers, rural community councils and local
authority staff. It is also suitable for volunteers and members of
voluntary groups who want to increase their membership. It will be
most suitable for people at project officer level who have some
experience, but those new in post who would like to gain insight and
ideas for working with communities will find plenty to inspire them.
