More info: Good documentation is key to selling your work –– high quality video recordings of performances or on-screen representations of paintings, sculptures and other work can increase the odds in your favour.  Spend a day learning how to handle a video camera, use simple and effective lighting techniques and come away with the ability to make your work look absolutely fabulous!  You’ll be using semi-pro equipment that is high quality but not too frightening.  However, if you also want to bring along your own camera to learn more about using it, that’s fine too. As with all AHA workshops, numbers are limited, you are guaranteed some hands-on experience, and you are taught by experienced artists.

More info: Using a variety of tools and techniques this course will deliver practical skills training for individual artists; to help them develop the tools to feel equipped and confident to present themselves and their work projects.  It will include an element of a marketing overview at the outset – ie an understanding of how markets and individuals work and some sort of ‘brand’ recognition, but will focus more on the actual ‘how’. It will look at communication skills, both verbal, visual and also in the written form, body language and tone of voice etc – culminating in the artists delivering their own ‘elevator pitches’ to each other. Artists will be invited to bring a prepared piece, for instance a press release, about them selves and their work, or about a particular project.
